Skimming and reskims

The bread and butter. A thin, flat coat of finish plaster over walls and ceilings that have seen better days.

  • Cracked or blown plaster taken back and made good
  • Artexed ceilings skimmed flat
  • Old wallpaper and patched walls brought back to one surface
  • Left ready for the decorator, no filling needed
Most asked for

One flat surface, wall to wall

Most rooms do not need ripping out. A reskim gets you a brand new surface without the mess and the cost of a full replaster, and it is usually done in a day or two.

Board work

Dot and dab

Plasterboard bonded straight onto brick or block with adhesive dabs, then skimmed. Quicker and drier than a sand and cement backing, and the usual choice for a new wall in an existing room.

Where it suits

  • Bare masonry in an extension or garage conversion
  • Old walls too uneven to skim directly
  • Where you want insulated board fitted at the same time

Studwork

New partitions built from timber, boarded both sides and skimmed to finish.

  • Splitting one big room into two
  • Closing in an opening or an old doorway
  • Building out a wall for storage or a chimney breast
  • Boarded, taped and skimmed as one job
New walls

A room where there was not one

Stud partitions go up quickly and take the same finish as the rest of the room, so it does not look like an afterthought once it is painted.

Whole jobs

Full internal plastering

Extensions, renovations and full house refurbishments, boarded and skimmed throughout.

Extensions

New build rooms boarded, taped and skimmed from bare block to a paintable finish.

Renovations

Room by room through a house, working around whatever else is going on on site.

Ceilings

Overboarded and skimmed where the old lath or plaster is past saving.

Small jobs

A single wall, a patch after a radiator move, a bit of making good. No job too small.

Placeholder — needs confirming

Prices are not shown anywhere because none are published, and we will not guess at them. Every job is quoted free after a look. If you want a guide price on the site, send the figures and they go on.
